... given that they're still almost certainly recovering from last night's celebration, I still figured a preemptive strike on the issue might be... well, funny.

Since they're both now graduates of this fine institution, Terry and Clarice are both now officially X-Men trainees. So let's roll out the red carpet and dub them with appalling nicknames before they wake up and can defend themselves, shall we?

Ooh! Hrm. "Screaming Mimi" is probably too long, and "Songbird" isn't horrible enough . . . oh, I know! We could call Terry "Soundwave" and make endless jokes about where she keeps her cassettes.

Clarice, hrm. We could go with "Purple Girl," I guess . . . okay, I think I used up all my good ideas on Terry. Somebody else's turn.

I am kidnapping you and subjecting you to my Transformers tapes until you learn.

Sure, pick on the Irish girl.

It's Transformers. I don't care if you grew up in Ireland, Siberia, or the rings of Neptune, Transformers are just plain too cool not to know about.

Besides, if I'm going to be making cassette-storage jokes, you need to know enough of the background to swat me with cause. :)

Transformers, rings a bell. Something about big robots tranforming into beasts?

Yeah, only this is older. Three years older than me, even, but my grandpa stayed ten well into his sixties and made sure I got the scoop on the classics when I started getting into Beast Wars.

you ARE kidding. "purple girl"...I lack words to properly explain it's stupidness.

Yodel and Glitterbug.

not glitterbug?

although it is obvious. does have it's own theme song though.

But people already call you Glitterbug and you like it. If I had to deal with Kamikaze, then you need something that will make you sigh every time you hear it, too.

From: [identity profile] x-blink.livejournal.com

better to call you "kamikaze" than "sushi".

why do I get the impression that you are planning on making my trainee experience a special kind of hell?

Screech and I second Glitterbug. Or Tinkerbell.

Jono is tinkerbell. I made him tinkerbell jeans to prove it.

Shrill and Leapfrog?

I obviously want to die.

I am many things but I'm never shrill.

LEAPFROG? what crack are you on? no more crack for you!

I'm in favor of renaming BOTH Cassidys, actually. Old Yeller and Young Yeller work for me.

But they shot Old Yeller!

Wait, what am I complaining about?

Well, it's . . . better than Chatty Cathy? Um.

I don't think I have any sense of proportion when it comes to picking embarrassing codenames. For example, the only purple thing I can think of is TinkyWinky, which while it's got sufficient social contentiousness for Clarice's style somehow doesn't strike me as superhero-appropriate.

Then again, hearing it would definitely inspire fear. For an opponent's own sense of sanity if nothing else.

I vote TinkyWinky for Clarice. If only because I would die of suppressed snickering every single time one of the team leaders had to say it with a straight face during a training session.

From: [identity profile] x-legion.livejournal.com
. . . this is true. It would be worth it if only to watch Scott and Ororo argue over which one of them has to give the order.

By the way, what did you end up with? I think I missed that announcement, since I haven't been on the team journal very long . . .

Multiple Man. Which I'm actually thinking about keeping when I hit the big leagues, it's better than anything else I've thought of so far.

It certainly is self-explanatory.

Yep. Also it scans well if I ever want to adapt "Particle Man" into my very own theme song.

If you like it, keep it. I don't think there's an actual rule that the name has to get ditched the minute you make full team, and I know I'm fairly terrible about these things myself. Although if anyone actually decides to pin Clarice with TinkyWinky and she finds out it was my idea you'll probably find me scattered in disparate pieces across the lawn, and rightfully so. I don't think Cain will thank us for the mess.

. . . I admit I'm kind of relieved you got Multiple Man because it means that I won't.

...I've heard worse.

I love that my powers are completely secondary compared to the glitter.

Weird isn't it? Your nicknames are all about your skin. Mine are all about being loud. Guess we know how they think of us.

I don't know if we're allowed to suggest names for each other but I think we should call you Hermione. Because you apparate.

Date: 2006-06-05 10:09 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] x-blink.livejournal.com
well, your powers are about being loud. mine are about being obnoxious uniquely pigmented. and teleporting (which they are treating as a secondary mutation from my skin which is hilarious)

Hermione? ew. I have MUCH nicer hair than emma watson. and bigger boobs.

And Shiro's are about being Japanese?

I would have suggested Switch Witch but I figured Ms. Maximoff might think that was too close.

What about Jaunt? Like from The Tomorrow People?

Date: 2006-06-05 10:19 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] x-blink.livejournal.com
I thought Shiro's secondary mutation was about extolling the greatness of the Japanese? j/k, not really :)

Jaunt is kinda cool. I think you should be named Eire. or maybe um....do they have a name for girl leprechauns?

Date: 2006-06-05 10:20 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] x-siryn.livejournal.com
Or Erin for that matter.

NOT LEPRECHAUN! You don't taunt the little people.
