To explain why it's a little soon for jokes, the boy we went to pick up yesterday killed most of the life on the farm with his manifestation and involuntarily animated the bodies. They only attacked because he was afraid. He didn't make it, and I don't know if he would have even if we'd been able to get him to Muir in time.

I don't even know if there's a word for it. It was almost like he was on his way to becoming some sort of quasi-energy being, but something didn't work right. His manifestation killed everything in the area, and he couldn't pull himself back into his own body, so he just . . . soaked into the corpses. It wasn't sustainable. He was dying when we got there, and the bodies were already starting to rot even though they couldn't have been dead more than 5 hours. It was bad.

Some mutations just aren't sucessful. Even if we'd gotten him to Muir before he manifested, without knowing what his power was going to do I don't know if there'd have been anything they could have done. The staff is good, but some powers are just the mutant equivalent of Tay Sachs.
