Mission report: Iceland

Team members: Cyclops (lead), Cannonball (2nd), Colossus, Dazzler, Polaris, Psylocke, Angel, Phase

Support personnel: Pete Wisdom, Doctor Moira MacTaggart, Doctor Madelyn Bartlet

Intention: Ascertain source of energy spike interfering with communications. Assist emergency crews responding to the earthquakes, volcanic eruption, and storm damage. Investigate psionic disturbance and new mutant manifestations.

Mission Status: Partial success.

Summary: Team arrived and began assisting with emergency operations. Task was complicated by the fact that the new mutant manifestations were happening throughout the population - our medical staff was affected as well, upon landing. [See attached file for first-hand descriptions from the medical staff about the side effects of these new powers.] Local emergency crews accepted our assistance, which consisted mostly of rescue operations. Damage to Iceland's infrastructure was severe.

Psylocke attended to distressed local psis. Dazzler and Polaris utilized their abilities to cap the apparent source of the energy spike, inside one of the country's active volcanoes. The new mutant manifestations, including those experienced by Doctors MacTaggart and Bartlett, were reversed. Nature of the energy spike is still unclear; Wisdom's investigation, at last report, was inconclusive.
