... and I do mean everyone, especially the trainees. There's a new training tape up for review and crossevaluation in the database as of this evening and I expect input from everyone.

Search on the filename asininebehavior.avi. Watch the tape, and share your opinions - preferably detailed - about where precisely the participants went wrong.

Best dissection of our latest episode of Stupidity On Parade gets out of com-shifts for the next month.

P.S.

Saying 'the beginning' is not a valid answer. Obvious, perhaps, but not adequate.

By the way, bonus points to whomever can guess who's getting those extra com-shifts.

I had a flashback

Put Cain through some crap he actually didn't deserve.

Hits hard, though. My new teeth should finish growing in soon. I _hate_ losing teeth. They _itch_ when they grow back.

But to answer the question - Got sloppy with the takedown. Walked right into that uppercut and paid the price for it. Should have gone for the hamstrings or the joints, hit and keep hitting. Stick and move.

Odd that I didn't use the claws. Never even dawned on me to pop 'em.

Logan

Well, I suppose it is an answer, and depending on how you interpret the question, technically correct.

But I believe the interpretation presented here demonstrates as much as the video did about why the problem started. Fights can start long before fists are thrown - but some people do not believe that.

Since Storm took the obvious answer out of the running, I'll say that things went wrong the moment Juggernaut failed to follow protocols and shut down the scenario when Wolverine removed the safeties. The petty chest beating wasn't inexcusable. Using the DR as a virtual cock is.

Though it's so very hard to choose just one place where things went horribly wrong.

The protocols don't apply when they ain't relevant. Ain't a damn thing that room can do that can hurt me, so the safeties aren't a concern. I shut it down because the scenario was bullshit. Then the psycho decides he wants to jump down and go hand-to-hand. There's where things went wrong.

If you want me to pin down a moment, it's when I made the call to pull the first punch.

Protocols are there for more reasons than just saving your fat head. The DR needs the safeties too.

From: [identity profile] x-storm.livejournal.com
Firstly, Polaris is quite correct. The safeties are a necessity for both those in the Danger Room and the room itself. Even if you cannot be hurt by it, you cannot conclusively know your opponent's limits - and the state of mind of someone willing to turn off the safeties should be a clue that things are not right. It is not for you to decide when the protocols are not 'relevant'. Rest assured they are there for a reason.

Secondly, you willingly chose to fight back against a teammate, seriously injuring him in the process. I understand self-defense, but as you yourself have said, he could not hurt you. There was no benefit in fighting back, so the conclusion is drawn that you were not thinking clearly. That was where things went wrong, and that is what must be addressed. If we cannot trust team members to keep each other's safety in mind, even in adverse situations, then we cannot function properly.

I am sure that in hindsight this is all clear. We must develop the ability to see these things when they are happening, however, so that situations like these can be avoided.

So are you eligible for the getting out of comm shifts?

Okay, now you've taken my metaphor and made me never ever want to go in the DR again.

...do I still have to do that thing you asked me to do?

I'm going to say that it went wrong a bit earlier: when Juggernaut and Wolverine decided to engage in a bout of verbal sparring. Their mutual animosity isn't exactly a secret, and though I am not a particularly . . . well, polite individual, even I could tell that they were asking for it at that point.

I'm scheduled for Saturday afternoon, and I'd really like to 'port down to DC with Clarice for the sakura matsuri . . .

I would say the scenario went wrong before the punch, when Mr. Logan and Mr. Marko began verbally taunting each other and indulging in an insult war. A fight can start long before the fisrt punch is thrown, and from the tapes, it is obvious that there is a hostile environment long before either of them begins to fight.

In training you continually caution us to not taunt our opponents unless it provides some strategic value.

The problems began log before the fight - when both Wolverine and Juggernaut let their dislike of each other get the better of them, and chose to act on that, setting up a situation with words that could have been prevented if either of them had just chosen not to respond to the other's taunts.

Would it be petty of me to point out that Shiro and I are likely to be able to work out something to both of our mutual satisfactions, despite previous animosity that lent itself to hurling insults and paper-mache.

And that I find this to be ironic, considering the reason for this discussion in the first place?

I'd say "Walking into the room" but even my limited English knowledge is suggesting that might be synonymous with Ms Munroe's definition of an invalid answer.

If I expand it to, "Letting those two in a room together" does it count? "Letting those two in the same five mile area?" "Letting those two..."

Well, you get the picture. I'll help with the com-shifts if I get to smile and chirp at Marko! Yay.

Mmm. Pie.

Pie > cake.

Discuss.

Ah, but is pie > pi? And is pi > GR?

AND WHAT ABOUT POOR CAKE?

(Why yes, I am having an affair with the caps lock key.)

Since I'm not in time for the com shifts, and totally need to scrub my brain out from Lorna's Danger Room-as-male genitalia substitute metaphor, and attempting to leave aside my personal feelings on either of the combatants...

I've gotta agree with Paige. Nobody ever let those two in the Danger Room together again anytime soon.

(and I think that's about all I can say without being totally biased)
