The mutant in the energy plant has been successfully extracted, and he is not an Iranian citizen. He will be resettled as agreed.

Meanwhile, all else did not go smoothly. The helicopter that was to evacuate Dominion, Storm, Blink, Sunfire and Juggernaut was destroyed before they could board it, and they made for the north. As far as we are aware, they all made their escape, but we have lost contact with them and do not know their precise location now.

Do what? Are we going to find them? Why hasn't Clarice blinked back here? What the heck?

Yeah, what Kyle said. Isn't that the entire point of her power, she can just get from one place to the other just like that?

If those are the choices, I'd have to go with injured. Otherwise, couldn't she come to the mansion to be all "Hey! Here's what's going on!" and maybe even "We need some help!" and then bring someone back to help?

That happened when she and Angelo crash landed and Toad got them. She couldn't port because of like, I THINK a concussion?

Yeah, it was a concussion. Smacked her head on a rock in the landing.

Big round room in the basement, remember? We'll find them. But I'm worried about why we haven't seen Clarice, too.

Good, because I am getting absolutely nothing on any number of selected comms frequencies, regular or emergency. No one's responding to direct communicator pings no matter what satcoms I bounce them off of.

These 'comms knocked out' incidents are getting a bit troublesome, aren't they? I want people on rotating coms shifts, though, just in case they get somewhere they can call in another way.

Mr Summers, I know I'm not really a trainee trainee yet but would it be okay if I sat in on one of the comms shifts? I'm worried too, and I think at least doing something would help.

I forgot about that room. Never been inside it for real.

I'm kinda freaked about it. I mean, it's Clarice. She can port from like, here to the Arctic, or Peru or anywhere.

At Charles's suggestion, Jean and I are staying put in Budapest for the time being - it makes no sense to head back to Westchester, and there's no point yet in us joining Kurt - but we're staying in close contact.

Problem is, the situation was pretty dicey going in - that was part of the deal - and a Blackbird pick-up isn't an option.

You mean "isn't an option until it's necessary", right?

Not an option, period. The invitation came with some pretty hefty caveats. No Blackbird doesn't mean no transportation, but we have to find them first.

So what you're saying is that we have five of our teammates and friends stranded - assumed alive - in the Middle East and someone agreed that we weren't going to be able to use all of our best assets to go retrieve them if something went wrong? All of this for picking up one mutant to resettle?

I take it back. There are worse things than politics.

The assumption of innocence is touching, really. I'll be on the comms. Someone contact me when there's an actual plan to get our team out from where they've been abandoned.

Forge, I know you're feeling righteous right now, but a kid was kidnapped because someone thought his power to extract impurities from metal meant he could produce uranium. Innocent or not, danger to teammates or not, they took a mutant to force him to use his power to make weapons for them.

How the hell can you argue about this?

I guess this means I should cancel my plans tonight. Just when you think you catch a break...

You'd think that it would be easier to track down a giant, a goddess, a mountie, a purple girl and Shiro.

Hell.
