Team members: Storm (lead), Nightcrawler, Polaris, Cable

Objective: Find and rescue three mutant teenagers taken from the street into the tunnels below the city.

Mission status: Successful. The teenagers were handed over voluntarily by their captors, who promised not to repeat the attempt.

Summary: On arrival in Chicago, the team went down into the freight tunnels, and soon found those who had kidnapped the children: a telepath, a woman with a form of metal armour, a mutant made of a shadow-like substance, and one who could throw mucus.

Each team member took on one opponent, after the initial skirmishing: Cable dealt with the telepath, engaging him in a mind-to-mind struggle, Polaris incapacitated the one with the metal armour, Nightcrawler took on the shadow mutant, and Storm engaged the fourth.

When all save the telepath were incapacitated, Nightcrawler, Storm and Polaris returned to help Cable. Nightcrawler was able to reason with the telepath and persuade him to free the captives, when he came to see that they would not adapt to life in the tunnels. It seems the kidnappers wished only to add to their group, and released the teenagers willingly enough. Attempts were made to persuade the mutants to return to the surface with the team, but they refused and so were left to live there as they wished. The teenagers were removed from the tunnels and handed over to police and paramedics.
