... although I suspect a number of you have probably already guessed this, given that we don't generally make a habit of welcoming long-time associates of Magneto into the mansion.

Pietro Maximoff has been our source inside the Brotherhood for a couple of years now. He's provided us with a lot of critical information, generally at very critical times. It's thanks to him that we were able to rescue Lorna and Forge. Also, that mission at Christmas, where we destroyed that machine... that was more of a cover. Yes, it was good to get rid of it, but its destruction also covered Pietro delivering to me a list of emergent telepaths that his father was considering using to power a new Cerebro. I think we're all familiar enough with the Alkali Lake file to know why that would have been a very bad idea.

He fell out with his father over San Diego, and he's been on the run ever since. He didn't want to approach us until he was fairly sure that Magneto wasn't breathing down his neck wanting to kill him and anyone who offered him help.

I knew about this from the start, obviously - I'm the one he approached in the first place. The Professor knew from the start as well. Ororo knows, Alison knew... Wanda of course. I told Remy back while he was still doing intel for us, so Snow Valley probably knows now. But we had to keep the information relatively close, for obvious reasons.

Oh. Okay, that answers the most obvious question. (That question being why a person I was pretty sure I remembered reading about in the context of the Brotherhood dossiers was suddenly on the journals talking about running water, but I was inclined to give the professor the benefit of the doubt.)

Okay. Other questions. Um . . . all right. I guess the only real question left would be if he's just here for temporary asylum, or if we're looking at another member of staff or team.

So what's the plan if his father decides to bring home his prodigal?

So what you're saying is there isn't one?

Okay, Marie, Forge and I will have a cage match to see who gets first crack at him then.

I'm going to go find Julio now before the realization sets in for him.

Or we just tag team all together.

...huh.

Is this going to be one of those things where I make everyone tea? I'm so bad at judging it these days, what with the whole living in the basement thing.

(Hi again, by the way. Veeeery tricksy, setting up that chat under the guise of a 'check-up'. Getting it past Meme, even more so.)

"when in danger or in doubt, run in circles, scream and shout"

according to the book I just read in English class, this is good advice for soldiers who do not know what to do and do not have orders.

I think it's bullshit. but it kinda sums up my reaction to a double agent of any sort being here. I just wonder, since he's been a double agent for so long, if he actually knows where his loyalties lie or if he can be bought by someone else (not the brotherhood) to betray us.
