Y'know, it's really interesting looking back and seeing what the Asgard stuff looked like from this end. It's actualy really impressive how you guys slotted in the extra security that smoothly. Did that stuff get ramped up after the whole Stryker thing?

Also, I was curious about the Iceland mission, the one that pissed Loki off. Was that the first time the team had done crowd-control sort of things on that scale? How did it compare to, say, the Seattle riot?

After Stryker, and after that incident with Pete's former employers... by then it was pretty clear that we needed procedures that we could implement immediately if there was any threat to the school. Having more manpower's helped with that, too.

As for Iceland versus Seattle - the folks in Iceland were mostly terrified, while those in Seattle... well, some of them were terrified, but more of them were angry.

I don't know that it's the extra manpower that puts us on the map - more what we've been able to do with it. We still try to stay under the radar, though, and we've been largely successful in a number of cases. Seattle was something of an exception, simply because there was so much media coverage.

And believe it or not, even given my penchant for coming up with doomsday scenarios, the idea of mass spontaneous mutation had never occurred to me. We certainly train for it now.

That is extra some reading I should go and do, now that it is mentioned. I was not in any position to know very much about what had happened when Mr. Wisdom's .. .. former employers decided to visit us in such a rude manner, but now that I -am-, seeing the differences between then and now would be enlightening.

Mr. Summers? Have you ever considered running (or have you done this and I just somehow managed to not noticed it...)us as trainees through scenarios designed to be similiar to the things that you and Ms. Munroe and Ms. Grey did early on?

The files are there, if you want to review them. In fact, my original notes as to how to reorganize our procedures are probably still appended - I like to keep detailed records.

Actually, no, Angie, I haven't, and I doubt that I would. The early scenarios were very limited, reflecting the fact that I hadn't had a lot of real experience yet. It might be an exercise in nostalgia, but the scenarios have since gotten a lot more focused - thanks to the fact that we now have a number of experienced people programming them, really.

I might make that some of my supplemental reading this week.

Ah. I thought it might be interesting to see how, say, Paige and Shiro might handle a situation differently from yourself and Ms. Munroe.

I'd suggest pulling the files from last March and our last invasion and comparing and contrasting the after-action reports, if you're going to do that. Should give you a clearer contextual view of the new procedures.

Oh, we do that. You may not be aware of the fact that we do, but we do.

I already pulled the files - they are on my laptop so I can read them instead of paying attention during the unending droning of my Euro History class. If I have to spend time in the classroom, I intend to learn something, even if the material presented by the professor in question is material I already know.

Just make sure no one's reading over your shoulder. Might be a little awkward to explain.

That is what the anti-glare screen on my laptop is for. What good is having a boyfriend who owns more computers that he has limbs if not for helping me get a laptop that lets me compose emails insulting my classmates in scathing tone work on other things in private during a class I only go to because it is required for my degree?

Oh, now you've reminded me I had some more historical reading to assign to the trainees...

Well, in Iceland, everyone ended up having powers too. It was still about people being more afraid though, and you also had to factor in that some had no clue how to use their abilities, what with having been given no learning curve at all. We also had some of the locals organize assistance in evacuation, which helped.

Seattle was an outright riot, contained in a specific area and without any of the weather elements or panic involved in Iceland.

Different locale, different conditions and most of all, different basic motivators for the people involved...

The suddenly active thanks to Loki volcano in Iceland was a little bit more weathery, but hey, I could be biased. ;)

Neither were, really. Even if the situations, locales and reasons were different, we were still dealing with people on a high level of emotions, some uglier than others. The lack of reason that can be shown then isn't different, in that sense. Course, you also get those that rise above it all and shine, too. And both situations had some of that, too.
