We had an obstacle course in the training ground at the monastery that contained a hidden ice fissure, that had much the same effect. It became far more amusing when I began to run others through it.

Quicksand with the holo-thingy over it! Like I'm supposed to test the ground with every step before I go anywhere? Fine, but you put a damn two-minute time limit on the drill!
