It seems that our Fearless Leader has decided that it's time for another exciting round of Learn To Fly The Jet! I'll be teaching the course this time around, as Fearless Leader has decided that he needs to keep a very close eye on Horatio The Roomba-Loving Turtle. So any of you who would like to learn how to fly the jet (trainees, I am looking at _all_ of you) or would simply like a refresher course please let me know by end-of-week.

The more people who can take her up and put her back down again that we have, the more operational flexibility we have in case of injury, vacation, downtime, precognitive chocolate fits, swimming pool inhalation, or brain-sprains.

Sign me up. Obviously, I've done most of my flying in helicopters - I think I'm functionally qualified on about a dozen different models - but I have done a limited amount of work with jets, too. I've even flown a standard Blackbird a couple of times. And yes, Haroun, I know that the standard model bears very little resemblance to our souped-up Bettie.

I think we'll start you in on the advanced familiarization courses, as you already know what flight _is_ and what all the parts are and all that jazz.

I think I'll give you the advanced students - which, as of right now, consists of Nathan. He already has flight time as a pilot, so really all we need to do is get him up to speed on our version of the 'Bird.

I'll take the absolute beginners.

Works for me. I suspect with the learning curve, beginner lessons are going to take more of a significant chunk of time on an individual basis than the advanced students, so splitting them up probably makes sense.

Just like I said - #1 in the class with a bullet. As for the time requirement - I'm still putting that together. Will know by end-of-week.

Hrm. If you need a guinea pig to go over the class format with, I could help there? Not much else I can do though, I'm afraid... other than learn well and quickly. :)

No drooling. Awed staring. I mean... They broke the molds for SR-71's. They're all in MUSEUMS. I mean, yes, the X-15 is faster, but it's rocket powered and oh my god Mach 3.

You can thank Scott for most of it, he did all of the really dirty work. I've been handed a fine piece of equipment to maintain, and I plan on keeping her in tip-top shape.

Our little girl holds more people, goes faster, doesn't leak on the ground, and has a few more tricks up her sleeves.

We'll go over all of it once I get the class going.

I have perfect faith in your ability to wrassle electrons into shape. It's those pesky laws of physics that get me every time. I'm in the process of cutting the 'Bird over to a pure optics system, which will give you the ability to cut loose w/o frying the cores.

And yes, you get points for asking how to do it correctly.
